In a surprising turn of events, popular Minecraft YouTuber and streamer Dream recently deleted his highly anticipated face reveal, scrubbing the video from his channel. The decision has left social media in a state of confusion and speculation.

Why Did Dream Delete His Face Reveal Video?

Dream’s face reveal video initially sparked excitement and curiosity among his millions of followers who had been eagerly waiting to see more of the breakout gaming creator since his 2019 Dream SMP roots.

The Hurtful Impact of Mean-Spirited Comments

Dream’s devoted supporters were gleeful at the reveal, with many expressing their support and joy at seeing the YouTuber’s face.

But this isn’t a complete look at the response. The highly anticipated reveal left some underwhelmed, and many began to attack Dream’s physical appearance, justifying it due to the creator’s previous scandals, including a cheated Minecraft speedrun.

What the Massive Change Did to Dream’s Brand

By revealing his face, Dream disrupted a major allure of his channel. The basic mask was extremely identifiable, and fans have gone so far as to purchase the icon from Dream’s own merch store.

How did things go after the mystery was revealed? Viewers seem less interested in Dream now, evidenced by the fact his most popular videos are almost entirely from 2020 and 2021. His most popular has 121M views, and is from August 2020, two years before the face reveal.

Who is the YouTuber Dream Without His Mask?

Some believe that his face reveal kickstarted Dream’s downwards spiral of popularity.

Commentary channel SunnyV2 links his falling viewership to how Dream’s mask was the only thing keeping him relevant.

Given this, people believe that this could be a publicity stunt to regain his lost popularity.

Dream’s Emotional Video Where He Pulls It All Back

Despite this backlash, viewers were surprised to find a video titled ‘bye, from Dream.’ waiting in their feeds.

The video opens with Dream scrolling through hate comments, with many comparing his prominent chin to the moon emoji.

Fellow Dream SMP members Sapnap and GeorgeNotFound demand Dream return to wearing the mask. They say he “fell off,” and Dream is willing to listen, asking if they think this stunt will bring his views back.

After scrolling through more hateful comments telling Dream to “put the mask back on,” the YouTuber puts his old one on. However, it isn’t practical, and the rest of the video consists of details regarding his new version.

Social Media Celebrates the Deletion, Proving Dream’s Bullying Accusations Right

Social media platforms rejoiced at the reversal of the face reveal. This widespread celebration reinforces Dream’s claims of being a victim of bullying and validates his decision to prioritize his mental well-being over appealing to his audience.

Suspicious Fans See an Inauthentic Marketing Ploy

Some aren’t so sure of the intentions behind this stunt. Other youtubers use this method to create more traction and views around their content, which we have seen in the news recently. While the theory of it being a publicity stunt to regain lost popularity has been posed, it may be even more obvious than that.

Dream has diversified his talent by branching into the world of music. He has two collaborations: ‘Roadtrip’ with hip hop artist PmBata, and ‘Change My Clothes’ with singer-songwriter Alec Benjamin. It was his one solo work that made waves upon release.

In the song, titled ‘Mask’, Dream is vulnerable with his fans, sharing that he uses the famous mask as a tool to hide his poor mental health. This reflection is particularly relevant at the minute, with Dream returning to something he’s previously used as a coping mechanism against hate.

Dream Picks His Ridiculed Music Career Back Up

Dream’s 2021 release was largely mocked, and the YouTuber hasn’t released anything individually since.

Keen-eyed viewers checked the video’s description, and believe that this may be changing. After explaining he “regretted the attention and the hate,” there’s a link to presave his new song, named ‘Until I End Up Dead’. The angsty chorus would link in well to the dramatic stunt Dream may be pulling.

Minecraft YouTuber Dream Commits to the Bit

This fan has their own theory, believing that he’ll do yet another face reveal on June 23rd in a more public avenue that suits his initial ideal.

Whether it’s a stunt or not, the YouTuber is committing to the new mask. Dream was spotted at the NBA wearing it, even if it perplexed those outside his fanbase.

Dream’s Shady Intentions Leave Fans Wondering

As Dream reverts to his faceless persona, the question remains: will he ever go public again? While the face reveal video deletion suggests a hesitancy to share his identity, this also could be a short-lived marketing stunt. We’ll have to see what happens after he’s on Dream Team Hour, and ‘Until I End Up Dead’ releases.
